Canal Days Event Celebrated Basketball Greatness from 50 Years Ago
As part of the recent Canal Days activities, the Little Falls Historical Society presented a display and hosted a well attended reception in recognition of the accomplishments of the 1956-57 and the 1957-58 LFHS Basketball Teams. These teams were coached by Wilbur Crisp, local basketball legend and New York State Basketball Hall of Fame member. The display included a number of trophies presented to these teams in recognition of their various championships, personal scrapbooks, a number of Wilbur Crisp athletic inventions and other memorabilia. These items will be on display at the Historical Society until it closes for the season in late September.
The reception was attended by former team members
Bob McCully, Jim Brown, Don Churchill, Gary Gregorka, Gary Grabinski, Bob Kane,
Bob McCumber, Dick O'Brien and Bob Foltin. In addition, family representatives
of deceased team members Bob Cinquanta, Jim Ackerman, Bob Brown and Donald
Clingen were also in attendance. The reception included oral presentations made
by Historical Society members, the sharing of many memories and refreshments. A
good time was had by all in the true spirit of Canal Davs celebration and
reunion.
